What we have learned as a business.

The successes behind failing.
Have you ever been in that spot where you consistently hit your goals, but the growth you dream of just doesn’t want to show itself? In the early stages of Pilot Spider, hitting targets felt like second nature, yet expanding as a business felt more like a far-flung dream.
We were left scratching our heads, wondering why our success wasn’t translating into visible business growth. This conundrum became our daily muse, cropping up in every team meeting and brainstorming session; we just could not get to the bottom of it, it seemed like a curse.
Initially, failure was a word excluded from our ethos. At Pilot Spider, we were all about setting realistic goals, more often than not, hitting them seamlessly, ticking them off our agenda without breaking a sweat. However, as time passed and corporate growth grew increasingly stagnant, we understood that this outdated strategy required a significant revision.
Then came the lightbulb moment every business so desperately yearns for – failure is not the enemy; failure must be embraced to fund growth; it is a secret guide. By setting overly ambitious goals, we were able to delve deeper into our misfortunes and uncover the fundamental answers to business growth. In our old ways, we were blind to these glistening pearls of wisdom.
You must understand failure was not an obstruction; it acted as a guide to well-revised and conclusive strategies. We began noticing details we previously overlooked consistently: customer feedback, market changes and outdated areas crying out for renovation and innovation.
This was when Pilot Spider took a monumental step. As a company, we realised it wasn’t simply about hitting targets but funding comprehensive growth. Our principles changed, and we became risk-takers. Only by taking risks did we begin to see the differences. It was all about experimentation; by experimenting, our understanding of the business’ capabilities and potential increased tenfold.
We discovered that it wasn’t a change in business tactics but a change in mindset that began to echo throughout the team. Failure was embraced. In many ways, it was something that we often strived for, teaching us what didn’t work within the business context so we could work on finding out what did.
Today, Pilot Spider are not hitting their goals but continuously failing. We fail much more than we succeed, and this is not taken as a negative but celebrated as a success. We know that every failure leaves room for us to grow – it is the now-told story behind our success – An account of resilience and flexibility, utilising setbacks as learning opportunities.
As the team at Pilot Spider continues on this journey, we take this mindset into everything that we do, encouraging other companies not to be afraid of failures looming presence. Instead, we embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and innovation, understanding that each complication is a stepping stone toward success. We aim to inspire a culture amongst our clients where taking risks is celebrated, knowing that the seeds of future achievement lie rooted within every potential setback.
